GMI assists in the postponement of Nurses Exams
GMI acting on behalf of Health and Other Service Personnel Trade Union of SA (Hospersa), were successful in getting a court order stopping the national rewrite of nursing bridging course exams.
During the month of June, the South African Nursing Council (SANC) cancelled first-and second-year exams written that were to be written in May. These exams would have afforded students the opportunity to successful conclude a bridging-course that would have allowed them to register as professional general or psychiatric nurses. The decision was taken after it was alleged that certain students had viewed leaked exam papers before exams were to be written.
The order instructed that SANC postpone the bridging course rewrites to July 19 and 21 instead of June 28 and 30.
